Pandit Kartar Singh Dakha was a great scholar of Sanskrit and this is why he had the title "Pandit" before his name. At one time Pandit jee was a staunch supporter of eating meat and used to debate in favour of it. Once around 1910, he had a great debate on meat with Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee and for the first time lost a debate. He gave up eating meat and became a life-long friend of Bhai.
